During your time at Dress in Love you will have exclusive use of the boutique and my undivided attention. You will not have to share your experience with another bride. Remember, it’s all about you.
Although it is preferable to book an appointment, it may not be necessary, particularly on quieter mid-week days, so feel free to pop by or call for an on-the-day appointment.
Make Time for You
You should expect your initial appointment to last around an hour and a half and it will start with a relaxed consultation so I can really understand the look you want to achieve. You then have plenty of time to try on as many gowns as you wish.
I will give you as much or as little guidance as you would like in selecting dresses to try on. As you try on each gown I will build a photographic portfolio of your wish list so that you can look through and help you decide on your dream dress.
Everything you Need
Once you have found “the One” and placed your order you will take home your own personal file containing all the details of your order, a date for your follow up styling appointment and initial fitting, a photo of you in your dress and a swatch of fabric from your dress to help you choose your accessories. You will also have access to our directory of other fabulous wedding services you may just have a special something for you if you tell them you are a Dress in Love Bride!
How to get the most out of your appointment
Brides often get quite nervous when wedding dress shopping; it’s a completely different experience to a normal shopping trip so it’s not surprising it might feel a little daunting. Remember that this is supposed to be fun and exciting, we are here to help and guide you in this experience; don’t be afraid to ask questions!
Shopping For Your Dress
In a perfect world you should place your dress order 9-12 months before the big day to allow for your dress to be made (this alone can take up to 6 months) and the fittings and alterations to be carried out. If you have a shorter timescale don’t panic, we work with some amazing designers who can offer much shorter delivery times on some of their gowns so always ask. Remember it may also be possible to purchase the sample you have tried on. It is advisable to try on no more than 10 gowns as otherwise it can become very confusing and always try and stay open minded about the type of dress you think you would like. So many brides come in with a strong opinion about which style they would like, only to find that “The One” is totally the opposite. May we kindly request that you book your appointment with us when you have confirmed your venue and wedding date. This gives us all an idea of timescales and the look which you are wanting to achieve, which can have a big impact on your final choice.
Take Only Your Besties
It is tempting to bring all your friends dress shopping, but often it can lead to confusing, conflicting opinions. Take just one or two of your closest friends and relatives whose opinions you value, you can always bring along others to your styling appointment.
Wear The Correct Undergarments
A neutral, strapless bra and seamless knickers is always a good idea as it is easier to try on all styles of gowns. Just remember I will be in the fitting room with you helping you into the gowns so wear something you will be comfortable in.
Think about whether you want to wear heels or flats as this will have an effect on you posture and the overall fit of your dress. You are welcome to bring your own shoes, however, we do have a selection available to you should you need.
Our Sample Dresses
May we kindly request that you do not wear heavy make-up or fake tan to avoid damaging our gowns. And please don’t be offended if we ask you to take off your lipstick before trying on any gowns. Remember that one day that dress may make it down the aisle!
To protect our designers and their creations may we ask that you do not take any photographs in the boutique. However, we will take photos for you and build a personal portfolio to help create your dream dress wish list.
On-line Dresses and Counterfeits
Whilst it is tempting to try and save money, buying a dress on line from China rarely ends well! Take a look here www.facebook.com/BridesBeware for more information.
Ordering and Alterations
Once you have found your dream dress a 50% deposit is payable in order for the designer to begin making your gown (remember, each dress is made from scratch just for you). You will be asked to sign a purchase agreement which will confirm your order. On delivery of your gown we will write to you inviting you in for your first fitting. This appointment should be made within 2 weeks of the arrival of your gown. At this point the balance is required to be paid. Here we will look for any alterations which need to be done. Please remember that alterations are charged additionally so remember to make allowances in your budget for this. We work with some very experienced seamstresses who will be able to give you a quote for alterations
